Learning Lab: Creating Rubrics x AI for Student Success
Lina Eskew
Facilitator: Lina Eskew (Searle Center for Advancing Learning & Teaching)
Description
Rubric creation is often perceived as time-consuming and complex, but with the assistance of generative AI tools, this process can become more efficient and accessible. Grounded in the Transparency in Learning and Teaching (TILT) framework, this learning lab guides participants through the steps of creating a rubric for an assignment using Copilot. There is a peer review component to share and receive feedback on the rubric creation process. Participants are encouraged to bring a past or potential student assignment for which they would like to create a rubric.
Note: Try accessing Copilot in Bing with your NU credentials prior to the learning lab to maximize time for the AI-assisted activity. This live offering expands upon what was previously covered in the Co-Created Rubrics session during the 2023-24 Reimagining Assessment Practicum. It has similar content from the 2024 Fall Course Design Institute by the Searle Center.
